Self-Forgiveness & the New Year

May I be filled with loving kindness

May I be peaceful

May I be healthy

May I be happy

As I enter the New Year, this meditation come to mind. I know that in order to create positive change in my life, I need to start with self-forgiveness. A willingness to let go of goals that I fell short of, plans left unmade and old habits that still remain. This work requires self-compassion and a desire to silence the ever present inner critic. Self-forgiveness does not equate to acceptance, but a resolution to move beyond the past, to soften and participate in new beginnings each day.

May I be free from fear

May I be kind to myself

May I accept myself as I am today

May I have the courage to create positive change in my life
