Devotion

![]() I just returned from co-leading a retreat in Sayulita.  We always arrive a few days early—time to settle in, to land, and to feel into what will be offered to our guests.  This part of the world always feels familiar and sacred. The calling came to explore the concept of devotion.  Devotion is... Deep love. Care for what matters. Commitment to how we choose our days. Willingness to fiercely protect what is essential. Reverence for this life—and our choice in how we live it.  Devotion asks something of us.  Not to do more. Not to hustle. Not to deplete.  It's something softer. More intentional. An honest reckoning with what truly matters.  And that starts with ourselves—before we offer it to anything or anyone else.  It’s reflected in the daily practices we honor. The boundaries we keep. The moments we allow ourselves to pause, breathe, and listen.  Not as a luxury, but as a necessity. All of this…in service of the life we are desiring to create.  To be devoted requires sacrifice. But not the kind rooted in fear, pressure, or old, disciplined ways of proving.  This is different. This is the kind of sacrifice that comes from clarity. From truth.  Letting go of what doesn’t belong. Saying no to what distracts or dilutes. So we can fully show up for what does.  Devotion isn’t perfection.  It’s the willingness to humbly return. To recalibrate. To commit to the inner work of choosing ourselves again & again. |
